Sculpt and Contour with Newport Beach Liposuction
Liposuction, also known as lipoplasty, liposculpture, and microliposuction
is a surgical technique that is used to contour, sculpt, and remove excess,
unwanted fatty deposits from specific areas such as the belly, waist, flanks,
bra roll, back, hips, thighs, upper arms, chin and neck. Liposuction is not
a means for weight loss; however, when used in conjunction with a healthy diet
and exercise, liposuction can produce long-lasting, amazing results by sculpting
and contouring those 'trouble' spots that are difficult to reach through diet
and exercise alone.
Power Assisted Liposuction Newport Beach with Dr. Sanjay Grover
Many
different techniques exist for liposuction such as
tumescent liposuction and superwet liposuction, in
addition to many different modalities that are used,
including traditional lipoplasty, power-assisted liposuction,
or ultrasound assisted liposuction. Dr. Grover has
had extensive experience with all of these techniques,
but prefers the Power Assisted Liposuction (PAL) technique
in conjunction with the superwet and tumescent techniques.
Dr. Grover has performed hundreds of procedures utilizing
the power assisted liposuction technique that uses
a small cannula, or tube that is attached to a mechanical
hand piece that vibrates at hundreds of times per
minute. This helps to loosen the fat cells and allows
for easier, more efficient and less traumatic removal
of the fatty tissues with less bruising and discomfort.
There are many advantages to the Power Assisted Liposuction
technique over older techniques such as Suction Assisted
Liposuction (SAL) and Ultrasonic Assisted Liposuction
(UAL). Its benefits include more efficient removal
of fatty deposits, especially from more fibrous areas
such as the "love-handles" and chest and as well as
from patients who have had previous liposuction and
may have additional scar tissue. Generally speaking,
patients with localized areas of excess fatty deposits
and have good skin tone and elasticity will have the
best results.
Recovery Options with Newport Beach Surgeon Dr. Sanjay Grover
Following your procedure, you will be somewhat swollen and sore. It is helpful
to massage the skin and deeper tissues following liposuction. You will wear
foam padding and compression garments over the treated areas to minimize any
bruising and minimize swelling. You should wear TED compression hose postoperatively
until you are ambulatory and walking to help minimize any risk for deep venous
thromboses and pulmonary emboli. The compression garments should be worn continuously
from 2 to 4 weeks depending on amount of swelling and exercise may be resumed
by 10-14 days post surgery, while compression garments are worn.
